happy birthday, Jimmy!

Hi, everybody! I wanted to start writing here again; I miss it so much. I said I was gonna start writing at the beginning of the year, but bam, it’s now mid February already!

Anyway, what better way to make a come back on my little corner of the internet than to show you the celebration we did for my dog’s 6th birthday. We love Jimmy so much. He was a bit crazy the first years, but now he’s more calm and is so friendly. We put up decorations, got him a cake, and sang him happy birthday.

img_2199 img_2201 img_2178 img_2235

I think his favorite part was jumping to reach the balloons we hung from the tree– especially that red one!

img_2210 img_2204 img_2198 img_2197 img_2177

img_2159

We got him a cake from a local barkery, June Bug’s Barkery (get it? dog bakery, but they bark so bark-ery, hah!)

img_2249 img_2277

We tried to snap a photo of him next to his cake, but he went in for a bite before my sister could even put it down! At least he liked it!

If you didn’t know, I have a lot of dogs (six, to be exact), and I tend to foster some for a wonderful organization, pets alive laredo. My dogs were guests at Jimmy’s paw-ty, so I decided to photograph them too.

Meet: Cake the mini poodle, Angie the chihuahua, Tallulah the chi-weenie, Max the pug, and Franklin the french bulldog.

img_2136 img_2148 img_2138 img_2149

I just adopted Franklin last month. He’s 5, kinda blindy, and so chunky. I got to take this photo of him eating his cake. It was so funny! His crooked teeth and a big piece of cake!

I hope you enjoyed this post. I loved that my family is as crazy as me about animals and went along with his party.

I promise to keep uploading more posts. I already have some in mind! Feel free to follow my blog to keep seeing my four-legged babies and my adventures (that aren’t all that adventurous, haha). I’m also going to start sharing more about me, since I sometimes feel I just started this blog, but people from the internet who aren’t close to me don’t really know who I am. Also, a lot of things in my life happened recently, so I wanna talk about those too, briefly.

For now, have a very nice Tuesday!! <3

bringing lucy and charlie home

March 31, 2016

I never look at craigslist. If anything I look at it maybe twice a year. I don’t know; I just don’t really need anything from there and am too shy to make business with people in that platform. I’m probably not the only one, right?

For some reason, I decided to check craigslist for guinea pigs. I love animals, especially those little creatures. On october I lost my very first guinea pig, Napoleón. Then earlier in march, I had lost my other guinea pig, Linda. I was devastated. I had another guinea pig home, Tomás. I had to remain active and happy for him.

So, I check craigslist, type in guinea pigs in my area, and see that there are two ads for girl guinea pigs being sold. One guinea pig was a year old and the other was just a baby. It infuriated me to read the ad’s description; something along the lines of “I don’t want her,” “I can’t take care of her,” “Don’t have time,” etc. It got me so mad. Why get a small animal if you can’t take care of him/her!? For the baby guinea pig, it said that its owner had gotten her from petco and had been with her for two weeks and no longer wanted her, so she tried to return her and they said no. Hence her ad. Here I am crying because I lost my two BELOVED guinea pigs, and here’s a girl getting tired of hers after just two weeks. Ridiculous. I felt the need to save these little two babies.

IMG_5147 IMG_5177

Meet Charlotte and Lucy! Aren’t they beautiful!?

I, essentially, bought them. I thought my family and boyfriend were going to say that I shouldn’t, that maybe I was being impulsive. But, no! They completely supported me. My mom even helped me pay for both of them. Bless her. She has a huge heart. So, I texted the girls who owned these two piggies and got them that same day.

They look so happy and love their brother Tomás. They have each other’s company even if they fight. For me, it’s endless cuddles and cute faces! Huge reward. I love learning more about them and their personalities.

I am, since, constantly checking for any other guinea pigs in my area in need of rescue. I just hear so many horrible stories about pets being abandoned. It’s so sad.

By the way, this is a picture of Tomás. He’s so big now!

Thanks for stopping by, friends.

I appreciate it. :)

the good and bad of life lately..

how are you!? I’ve missed you, my wordpress friends! feels so good to be writing to you again. (i mean, my last post was less than 20 days ago, but it feels longer!)

as the title suggests, i have a couple of good and bad news to share with you..

the good:

  • david and I went to mexico city for the weekend of spring break.
  • it was so neat to be in a city i really enjoy with someone i really love.
  • we went to museums and the pyramids.

the bad:

  • while we were over there, i got a call from my mother saying Linda, my beloved 3 year old guinea pig, had passed away.
  • we don’t know what happened or why she died. it was a shock for all us. my mother especially, since she’s the one who found her.
  • i think that since david and i were in a big city with his family, we weren’t able to cry or digest her death properly. we had to hide our emotions in front of everyone and keep going.
  • when we got back home, we buried her next to her brother, napoleón, who also left us this past october.

positivity:

  • if linda was sick or if she suffered, anything, she is free of it and she is now with her brother, and they are both happily eating cilantro in piggy heaven. –– at least that’s what i tell myself.
  • I planted flowers around their little tombs and they’re already raising from the ground. other plants i also have are blooming too. –– makes me happy
  • i still have one more piggy with me, and since he’s a baby he needs a lot of attention and activities. –– so i also have to keep going cuz of him.
  • life is still good. god is great. everything happens for a reason. my guinea pigs and i have people who love us and we love them. ♥

File_000 (10)

we will miss you terribly linda.

anyway friends, i guess i just wanted to write this to have a little post in honor of Linda, since this is a space i truly love. more lifestyle, diy, travel posts coming your way pretty soon. sorry this is a little bit of a sad post, i just needed to write about this since a lot of people don’t understand how losing a  four-legged loved one is also a horrible feeling.

are you well? i hope so.

love you guys.

thanks for sticking around.

well, we’re off to bed. we hope you had a fun monday evening. boyfriend and i ate chick-fil-a and every bite was delightful. what did you do? do you like gilmore girls? do you bother your pets too and make them sit through shows they don’t like? am i mean? haha.

p.s. – i forgot how fun it was to use a mac’s photobooth. i shall use it more often!

sweet dreams! or good day, depending where you are! :)

nice fall afternoons with Jimmy

the weather is just so amazing right now! as I write this I am sitting on a bench of my university, just taking it all in. this is definitely my favorite season.

lately I’ve been going outside more– you know, to take advantage of this blessing– and going outside means spending time with jimmy, our 3 year old golden retriever. we play fetch and we get dirty in the mud the light rains leave behind. we’re something like phil and lil from the Rugrats:

Screen Shot 2015-11-10 at 11.19.28 AM

jimmy loves it but I end up looking like angelica:

see:

dirty feets. some pictures of this day, since jimmy is a cute model (and since I’m kind of practicing my photo skills):

Screen Shot 2015-11-09 at 5.16.41 PM

we’re doing some construction around the house. hence the holes on the ground. jimmy is pretty careful with them. plus he already knows how to take out his ball if it gets stuck in there.

did I mention that his ball is a star wars death star?! well, now after so much chewing it looks more like an egg star, ha! (get it, cuz it looks like an egg?)

Screen Shot 2015-11-09 at 5.16.57 PM

aw, happy jimmy.

well, this was our day. how was yours? :)

have a happy tuesday!

oh, by the way, this is the second “nice fall afternoons” post I’ve done. the first one was with napoleón and linda, the guinea pigs. you can check it out here :)

Napo <3

friends,

to what appeared to be the start of a good week, turned out to be one of the worst in my life.

My best friend of 5 years, my guinea pig, my baby boy, my adoration, Napoleón…left my side on october 28.

You don’t know how sad it makes me. I am heartbroken. Someone pulled my heart out and ran with it and my emotions; now I’m empty, left with sadness. All I want is to never leave my bed and sleep and maybe cry some more.

Some might say I’m exaggerating, but my goodness, I am not. That little man meant so much to me. You don’t know the number of nights I would come home from school stressed about life, and he would be there, ready to be carried by my arms to cuddle. I would put him on my chest and we would talk; he would make his piggy noises and I would tell him my day and how much I loved him. Suddenly it was all better. He made me better.

Other times he would just cry or touch me with his paw, and that his way of begging for me to carry him, and once I would do that, the crying would stop. He really was like my first kid…

I had him in my arms minutes after it happened– and thank God I was with him because he did not deserve to go alone– and I could not fathom what it would be like to come home to no one needing me. No one waiting for me to cuddle. No one to call by those unique nicknames one thousand times per day. I just… I would just see him, looking so peaceful, and part of my mind didn’t want to believe it and was hopeful he would wake up. I just really couldn’t comprehend. I also couldn’t understand how in the same year I had lost my childhood best friend, grandpa, and my young-adulthood best friend, Napoleón.

I have another guinea pig, Linda. I love her. I can tell she misses her buddy too. If I say her name she just looks up. If I say his name she goes crazy excited. Lately all else does is sleep. I go to her cage, play with her, give her floor time, and snacks, but I know she’d rather be alone (She bites me when I try to touch her). She’s just more independent than he was. However, I want her to know that I am here for her so I still get out of bed and spend time with her. She needs me now.

This is hard.

I got the flu too. I feel sick all over. My muscles ache. My head is pounding. I can’t breathe through my nose. I miss him terribly.

I just wanted to let you guys know since I consider you my friends, dear readers. I’m moping. And I didn’t want to keep it inside because I’d feel worse. I haven’t told anyone else other than those extremely close to me. I’m just not really in the mood to hear “I’m sorry.” Mostly cuz I’ll just start crying again.

The thought of the days to come without him feel out of place, weird, wrong, but with time I’ll learn to accept it. I know he lived a good life and did things many piggies don’t get to do– getting featured in a magazine, being a finalist in an instagram guinea pig contest, getting a blog named after him, changed people’s perspectives on guinea pigs (Oh, I’m so proud of him!).

I know someday I’ll see him again. I know he’s in a good place. I know he’s healthy and happy and probably has a plethora of his favorite foods with him.

He was an amazing, loving guinea pig.

There is so much more I want to say, but I can’t find the words to write or a way organize my thoughts. For now, I have memories, my writings, and pictures.

wpid-snapchat-8321979120571592061.jpg

By the way, today November 1st is the Day of the Dead in Mexico. I wrote this yesterday, but I waited to post this today because I felt it was appropriate since we are supposed to celebrate and honor those that have passed on by remembering them.

I love you Napoleón.

Thank you for everything.

p.s. I made a tag called napo in case you want to get to know him better or see pictures of him. I know I’m gonna do that just now.

silly photos of a human and a hedgehog

I am running late for class (and having a pug, a chihuahua, and a guinea pig next to me doesn’t help to get out of bed), but I wanted to share these pictures of last night with alexander the hedgehog, after david, his brother, and I went to watch The Martian! And yes, you should go watch it!

today I have a long day ahead of me –including dissecting a cat for my anatomy class– but I’ll be ok :) what are your plans this weekend?

have a happy friday!

IMG_8192

I know he seems alright, but I was scared that maybe he was sick cuz I had offered him watermelon and he didn’t want it when he usually loves it, and he didn’t even come out of his bed when I called him when he’s usually the first one to wheek and run toward me. Then I brought cilantro and he only ate some. Linda ate both the watermelon and the cilantro and she ran to my feet when I called her name, in comparison.

I’ll keep an eye on him tonight. I think he was just tired or not hungry. Maybe it’s even his teeth that hurt, I don’t know. He’s a pretty big sleeper at night, so I hope it’s that. Either way he’s sleeping with me tonight just in case. (I keep peeking under my comforter to see him. He comes out and sleeps next to me occasionally. Right now he’s next to me foot.)

My poor baby. I hope you’re fine. :(

Photo on 2010-08-05 at 02.06  Photo on 2010-08-05 at 02.06 #3

I was cleaning my laptop when I came across these two pictures from 2010. 5 years ago. The year Napoleon came to be my pet and hairy roommate.

Oh how I love this little creature. Every day he makes us all laugh, he follows me around my room, and whistles like there’s no tomorrow whenever he hears someone in the kitchen.

He’s also such a nice big brother to his little sister. He’s such a good leader when it comes to exploring new territories. He sometimes doesn’t like to share his food or bed, so he grrs and chases Linda. But that’s just normal brother-sister love!

Also he’s a little grump. But I wouldn’t change him for anything in the world!

Well, I’m off to pet him and try to convince him to sleep with me (although he almost never wants to :( little man likes his freedom and his own bed, haha).

I just wanted to share those two pictures with you because I really liked them and because I can’t believe he’s been with me five years already! He has taught me so much and he doesn’t even know it.

I love my piggies so much.

Goodnight!

Max’s first time in a pool

Oh, how I really wish these would have come out perfect. Not blurry like they are, cuz this was a really fun day. Getting together with old friends, eating wings, watching a horror movie, swimming in a really hot day with a pug by your side… I mean, really, is there anything better in the summer? I think not.

(some photos by me, some photos by my beautiful friend, doris.)

ps: I don’t think Max liked the pool, but it did help him cool off on this very sunny day.

she just knew.

If you read the post I wrote about being in a hospital, you might remember that I was there accompanying my grandfather.

I wrote that entry on May 29; he passed away June 11.

We were sad. We cried – so much. We still do sometimes, secretly, in moments.

We knew it had to happen, like it does with everyone else in life.

Grandpa – an amazingly strong man – and I were two hours away from our hometown. When the doctors told us it was time to come say our goodbyes, everyone gathered.

I know this might sound strange, but a couple of days before this happened, our Chihuahua, Angie, did not leave my grandmother’s side, not even for a second, not even when my sister called her. She didn’t even leave the room where my grandpa lived for a while in.

It was as if she knew we were sad and that something was about to happen.

I took this photography of her with my grandmother. And seeing it makes me think of those times again.

diana mini 2 26

I treasure it.

It shows that even these little creatures know more than we know. She really did feel my grandmother’s sadness. And ours.

farmer’s market: june

Because today was our town’s farmer’s market and we didn’t get to go and we are sad, I wanted to share a couple of cute pictures my boyfriend took of Max last month that we went. For memories and such.

Just look at him! Happy boy. Oh and look at the size of that mango in my hand! Huge!

IMG_4881 IMG_4884

All smiles + my grandma in the background, hey!

We even made it to one of the local magazines:

Screen Shot 2015-07-18 at 11.51.44 PM
Picture from the article. So famous, that Pug!

Regardless of his popularity and our happiness produced by the food present, Max had a little..accident, if you will.. I completely forgot to bring doggy bags until he reminded me by leaving a present for the grass. Oh, Max… All of us, even grandma, had to pretend we didn’t know that had happened. We just left laughing. What else could we do, haha! Sorry!

Oh, also this really creepy old truck driver guy came up to my sister and me and started flirting with us and telling me that I should dump my boyfriend, and that he was in a hunt for a wife that looked like me. We ran.. haha

Anyway, leaving the poop and creepy guy talk behind, I hope your day is good and that you are happy :)

Thanks for stopping by, and don’t talk to strangers, kids! See you soon :)

“Tienen animales muy exóticos!”

“You have very exotic pets!” …is what my cousin’s husband said over dinner as he visited our home for the first time and met (almost) all of our pets.

there’s napoleon and linda, the guinea pigs;

max, cake, angie, and jimmy, the dogs;

my mom’s nameless bird;

sebastian the fish, which my sister got a friend’s party (it was a centerpiece, can you believe it?! it’s a living thing!! but oh well, we rescued it, I suppose. he seems happy!);

and now we have a new member…

ALEXANDER THE HEDGEHOG!

IMG_7184

my little sister got it for her 12th birthday. i know, i know, adopt don’t shop, and all that, but believe me! we looked, even in craigslist, and there was no hedge in need of a home.

she became like a walking hedgehog encyclopedia because of how much she researched about them. so when her birthday came my dad drove her to a farm 3 hours away to get little alexander.

she has been super responsible with him. i mean, all he does is sleep, mostly, but when he’s up boy does he poop! and she cleans it without making a fuss – she even feeds him worms!! need I say he even has an instagram… I face-palmed when she told me but it’s kinda cute and she has fun running it, just like I have fun writing this blog, so.

IMG_0689 IMG_0699   IMG_0702 IMG_0671

He’s been using the cage Napo and Linda used when they were babies too. Once they got bigger, we transfer them to a new cage more fit for their size. For right now that one is perfect for him. And we’re currently on the hunt for a wheel cuz he’s already gaining weight!

IMG_0719

welcome to the family, grumpy little thing

oh! also welcome to the family grandma’s weird birds that sound like those blue birds from the pixar short! these:

life lately: april

I always loved the way pictures taken by an old camera would turn out. so i thought, why not!, and got myself a little toy one for my birthday. its name: diana mini. just perfect!

it uses film, and after getting my pictures developed, i wanted to share some with you because i was so excited! nothing like that waiting period to see how your pictures turned out.

so, here are some pictures taken by the diana mini and by two disposable cameras :)

you can click any image to enlarge.

sorry not sorry for the pet overload! I just can’t help it.. :)

have a happy sunday! :D

twenty-one & five

guess what little boy that makes my heart pop just turned five years old?

him!

he got a happy belly full of bell peppers. i think he might have even gained a few ounces! but that’s all right. the fluffiness will make him look cuter!

& I, his mother, just turned 21 earlier this week!

my family showed me so much love even if I didn’t celebrate the way they would have wanted me to (sorry mom). but, oh, i had the greatest afternoon-long nap that day!

i got a lot cool gifts, birthday cards and calls from my closest family members. they’re the sweetest and they made me feel special.

david’s gift: do I have the best boyfriend or what?! he knows me well.

two perfect birthdays..

how was your week? :)

things you should know before getting a guinea pig

when people find out i have guinea pigs, they automatically starting asking me questions and i happily answer since i love talking about them! some people ask out of curiosity others because they want to get one.

for any one who is interested in knowing more about guinea pigs (or getting one), this one’s for you.

  1. they ‘whistle‘, ‘talk‘, and grr. some also popcorn.
  2. piggies love food! they eat timothy hay, pallets, and vegetables only; occasionally some fruits.
  3. their teeth never stop growing. to keep them short they need to be constantly chewing things.
  4. adopt before you shop. if you can’t find any up for adoption near you, check craigslist. most piggies there are sold with a cage and food and are in need of a new home. consider a pet store your last option.
  5. they need company. get two piggies of the same gender if you can. don’t get a piggy if you’re not gonna be there for it. they miss you when you’re gone.
  6. they should be taken outside regularly so they can eat grass and exercise. just supervise them at all times! you can also give them floor time for more indoor exercise.
  7. they need a big cage. those small pet store starter kits don’t cut it. they grow out of them. so invest in a big one since the start.
  8. like us, they all have their different attitudes, likes, and dislikes, and you should respect them. they’re also shy and get scared easily.
  9. there’s a proper way to grab them. don’t forget their butt – it’s the heaviest part.
  10. piggies clean themselves, but still need proper grooming, especially super hairy ones. baths, manis, pedis, and hair cuts for some.
  11. they last an average of 5-8 years. be ready to commit!
  12. NO, they do not swim. NO, they can’t be on those hamster balls. They are not a toy!
  13. they don’t need shots, but they still need to see the vet sometimes.
  14. they poop a lot. so their cages have to be cleaned weekly! no excuses.
  15. they don’t stink! they will if you don’t clean their cages or give them baths.

Later on i will do another post explaining more in-depth these points for those of you who have questions! I’ll keep you posted:)

did i miss something? let me know!

thank you for your interest :D!

much love, diana + napo + linda

a new addition to napo’s cage!

napoleon got a little yoda picture for his cage! he’s now one of the cool guys with posters on his wall. so rebellious. all he needs now is a pink floyd one!

IMG_7930

don’t worry, star wars fans, i don’t think he’ll eat the picture. he’s a pretty calm piggy; doesn’t even chew on toys.

IMG_7933

^ admiring his poster. i guess every boy wants to be jedi! ^

linda: peruvian piggy

I’ve seen many people specify the types of guinea pigs they have. i have tried to figure out what mine were just for the fun of it but never actually came to a final conclusion. (as a matter of fact, i don’t even know all the types that exist. i just know two by name: abyssian and peruvian. but if i saw piggies, i wouldn’t be able to tell what kind each was.)

the other day, though, i was on instagram and saw a piggy that looked just like linda! the owner of the piggy described her as a peruvian, so i knew linda had to be that.

so ladies and gentlemen, an explanation to linda’s crazy hair: she’s a peruvian :D! yay!

IMG_7802 IMG_7803 IMG_7809

^ linda’s reaction to this recent discovery ^

for those of you who own piggies, do you know what type napoleon might be? it would be cool to know!

how we’re dealing with the weather

first off,

happy new year! :)

we hope you had fun over the holidays! did you eat as much as we did? we still kinda are, to be honest.. why is food soo good haha! but, gosh, can you believe that we’re already 10 days into january?? wow!

this year brought with itself really cold weather! (ok, maybe our city doesn’t have it as cold as others do, but still, it is pretty cold for us!) especially when there’s wind. regardless, i still really love this weather. i like going outside and seeing the dark sky and my surroundings as if they had a blue filter on them, and feeling like i need to get wrapped up in a big jacket and snuggle. i also like that i can go in bed and feel the perfect temperature under my comforter. not too hot, not too cold. just right. ahh! so cozy! <3

my pets are still getting used to the cold. they are potty trained to go outside, so whenever they get an urge, they go do their business, and come back running as fast as they can! especially angie, who has to wear two sweaters and sleep under big comforters in order to not shiver. poor thing! jimmy doesn’t seem mind to mind it. he still runs around and takes naps in the concrete. at night though he does go into his cage and sleeps in his blankets. max doesn’t get bothered by the cold either. his rolls keep him warm all day long! except when he goes outside. he doesn’t spend as much time exploring lately, but i don’t blame him. that little nose of his probably freezes. plus, he hates wearing sweaters so that’s not a way to help him keep warm, sadly. cake is the smart one! she’s loves taking naps on the floor, but since it has been super cold lately, she goes into my grandfather’s room to nap there since he always has the heater on. and at night she sleeps in a recliner he has there. she has it all figured out..

napoleon and linda jump from corner to corner of their cage; from floor to their blankets. they always do that so i don’t know if they’re actually cold.. they have a lot of thick hair and seem the same to me.

today, however, i carried napo and wrapped him in a big scarf i was wearing. he loved it! he was so comfortable that i felt bad for putting him down.

IMG_7648

to make up for it, i put my scarf on his bed so he could cuddle with it, since it was still warm from the both of us.

IMG_7675

he melted!!

IMG_7676  IMG_7677

i think that means he loved my idea..

IMG_7680

linda figured out how to open her cage and jump from it to the floor and back in. i don’t know how she figured that one out, but she did. she’s always been rebellious though.. her wild can’t-be-tamed spirit :p so i often find her under my bed in a blanket that fell or a pillow that the piggies have now conquered and proclaimed as both theirs.

IMG_7660

how cold is it where you live? what do you and your pets do to keep warm? :)

p.s: did you see we changed our theme? i like it! i hope i don’t miss the other one too much to change it back.. we’ll see!

have a nice day!! :)

fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-linda

merry xmas, dear readers!

i wanted to share with you some pictures i took this and last year. i know in some we are missing pets, (sorry about that) it’s just been kind of crazy lately. but anyway, i hope you are well and that santa brought you all the gifts you wanted! :)

enjoy!

linda.

have an amazing day! thanks for stopping by! :)

nice fall afternoons

i know i always post pictures of my piggies outside, but i just love seeing them happy and exploring, and how cute they look eating everything around them! yesterday i took them outside while i cleaned their cages, and i couldn’t help but take out my camera and take pictures. i thought they were so cute, so i wanted to share them. i hope you like ’em as much as i do :)!

i took the top of their cage and put it on the floor. (i don’t just leave them run free because it’s our front yard and if they hear something they might get scared and run and i won’t have control over them, etc. too much work. and i also don’t want them to get hurt.)

^ if i’m next to them, i do open the side of their cage though ^

IMG_6910

^ i let napo go outside his cage because i know he’ll listen to me. linda on the other hand is a runner and won’t >:( ^

IMG_6911

^ she tends to do that with her butt; i don’t know why! but hey, at least she’s comfortable, right? haha ^

IMG_6932IMG_6931 IMG_6933IMG_6946

^ little napo photo shoot! he gives such good poses to the camera! aw, little model! and he looks so fat! no, jk, he’s not fat! it’s just fur and lots of love! ^

IMG_6923IMG_6938 IMG_6940

^ linda and her wacky hair! either she’s really active, or really lazy. she would lay down and put her leg out, all while eating! so hairy; i love her! even if she bites me.. ^

IMG_6954

^ the grass was greener and more delicious on linda’s side, huh, napoleon? ^

aww, my hairy babies!

we hope you have a very nice day:)

linda enjoying the weather

the weather changed randomly here. from one day to another we went from thin tees to knit sweaters. i love it though. fall is my favorite season, and it’s finally feeling like it. i just wished i had more appropriate outerwear to keep me warm.

the other day my boyfriend and i took napo to the vet to get his teeth trimmed. linda stayed home.

(fyi: rodent’s teeth never stop growing, thus, they have to constantly be chewing on things to keep them short. napo, however, is one of those piggies who doesn’t like to chew on things, so his teeth got long and eating uncomfortable, so we took him. he’s better now!).

the vet told us to take the piggies outside more often so they could eat grass and all that is green, cuz those things are good for them. once we got home, i put linda’s harness on and took her outside.

(napo’s teeth were sensible, and since the day had been stressful enough for him already, we decided to take him to his bed so he could rest)

IMG_6648

linda outsideit was a little chilly, but i don’t think she even felt it cuz of her crazy hair and because she was super excited! she jumped, ran, got comfortable, and ate.

even angie and cake joined!

angie outside with lindaIMG_6667

^ and no, don’t worry, linda wasn’t eating those plants. she was just hiding between them and exploring ^

i plan on taking both piggies out more often. i have done it before, but the last time i took pictures was when linda (left) was a baby:

relaxing and eating. yup, that’s the piggy life!

say hello to the rest of the gang!

so you already met max, napo, and linda. they, however, are not the only pets we have!

in total we have four dogs: max, jimmy, angie, and fei; one bird; and two guinea pigs!

* * *

first, there’s angie:

Snapchat-20140826073925

she’s a chihuahua that looves to sleep and be lazy! and yes, the stereotype is true: she is feisty and will bite you and bark nonstop. just feed her chicken or french fries and you’ll be fine! she’ll automatically become your best friend haha

* * *

then, there’s fei, or how i like to call her, cake!

IMAG7255

^ excuse the background mess, but it’s rare when cake sits still and in such a cute position. i had to take a picture! ^

cake is a poodle with a little of chihuahua in her. when we got her she was tiny, tiny, tiny! (even napoleón was bigger than her!) she then grew and got crazy hair

^ see. what’d i tell you! tiny cake ^

next up is jimmy, the golden retriever!

DSCF1035

^ this was jimmy as a baby. such a cute puppy model! ^

jimmy is going to be 3 years old on february. we had wanted a golden retriever for the longest time, and when the opportunity presented itself, we did not hesitate. jimmy stays mostly outside. the house is too small for him, but the backyard is perfect for him to run around!

IMG_6236

^ that’s jimmy today, enjoying a nice afternoon with max ^

* * *

like i said, we also have a bird! but he’s my mom’s so we don’t really interact with it. he’s happy though! and sings when he wants to. sadly we never named him. we just refer to him as ‘pájaro.’

IMG_6388 IMG_6371

^ aren’t his feathers so cool? almost like a little optical illusion of color. it was hard to get a picture of him since he kept flying around and dancing. happy birdie though! ^

* * *

we also had three little fishies, but sadly they had a little accident:( they are now happily swimming in fishy heaven †

* * *

for now we don’t plan on getting any more pets. we got a full house; we don’t need more haha. my baby sister wants to get a hedgehog, but we’ll see once she’s a little older. there are a lot of pets out there in adoption we would like to bring home, but it’s not that easy. especially with all the other babies we have to take care of. we’ll see in the future. for now, we’re good (:

taking max out for a walk

i hadn’t seen max all weekend, and to make up for it, i took him out for a walk!

once he heard the word “outside!” he ran toward the door and would just follow me with that pug face like saying, “hey, let’s go! you promised we were going outside.”

IMG_5060

i think he really liked his walk though :) he was so happy. he didn’t even care about wearing a harness – which usually he hates to wear!

IMG_6144

maybe he liked wearing his harness this time because it’s r2-d2! he looks so cute!! (p.s. that little white dog smelling max is cake) ^

we ran around a school’s parking lot that’s near the house. max loved it! although that idea backfired on me when we walked back home and he thought getting on the street anytime he wanted was alright ¬¬ haha

he was such a good boy overall:D! he obeyed all of my commands: he listened when i told him to come closer to me or to not get off the sidewalk. unlike my other dogs, little max would get so nervous when people passed by us.

when we got home, however, max started fighting with our golden retriever, jimmy, so we had to separate them -.- but they were friends again minutes later.

he is now dead asleep and happy. good day for max the pug! (:

meet the piggies!

i have two guinea pigs: one male, one female…

this is napoleón:

IMG_4992

napo for short! he is a 4 year old guinea pig who loves to eat and enjoys sleeping next to my legs. i love him so much.

this is linda:

IMG_5766

napo’s little sister who just turned one! she’s loud and jumps and runs around in her cage. she also has very messy hair. but we love her like that!

i got both my guinea pigs the same way: without permission from my parents and out of a “love at first sight” impulse. i just couldn’t help their fluffyness! and when i held them i knew they had to come home with me. and so they did:)

^ the day we brought linda home. poor baby was so scared she never got out of her tunnel haha she was so tiny! ^

unfortunately i couldn’t find any good pictures of the first day i brought napo home ): but he had crazy hair and would always stand on top of his food to make sure nothing happened to it! haha

napo and linda now have each other to keep company and be happy piggies forever! :) they’re pleased to meet you!
