my hair is blue-emerald-green!

I wanted my hair blue for a while, but whenever I told someone I wanted that color they would give me the “you’re crazy” look, so it unmotivated me. Then I found an emerald green on pinterest, fell in love, got my parent’s approval, showed it to my hair stylist, and he worked his magic.

moments after // a week after // yesterday

I need to retouch it soon. But I am so happy!

I have blue, green-blue, and purple in my hair. Yay! My guy left my natural root since it was growing, so there’s also my brown hair in the mix. I was scared the green wouldn’t show, but nope, it’s there!

something better than a dance flashmob // plus star wars!

Just wanted to take a quick second to show you this awesome video I found while in Facebook! It’s of a town in Mexico that borders where I live.

The city’s youth orchestra surprised the public in a shopping mall with a flashmob, only that this wasn’t a dance! (I’m tired of those, aren’t you?) In lieu of its soon release (6 days to be precise!) they played the Star Wars theme song. HYPE!!

Click here to see the video in Facebook!

(I tried to embed it but wordpress didn’t let me. Sorry folks. You can still watch it even if you don’t have a Facebook. But I’m pretty sure everyone has now nowadays. Wait, my mom doesn’t have one.. Ok, maybe not everyone! But yeah!)

That video made me so happy! It helps as a distraction for those having a bad day and it is something different for our community that promotes a wonderful thing: MUSIC! And let’s not forget, Star Wars!! (Sorry, I’m just so excited with all of the promotions for this movie).

Enjoy!

austin, san marcos, a gig, and food.

hiya friends! how’ve you been? i hope well :) this past monday boyfriend, his band, and i went to austin because they had a gig. i really like that city. it’s so youthful, has delightful architecture, and the people i’ve talked to have been so nice. oh, and its motto is “keep austin weird” which is..interesting, haha.

here are some photos from our trip, accompanied with a few transitions like those in Frasier. well maybe not as clever, but i tried! (please tell me you understand that reference?! brownie points if you do!)

WHEN IN AN IRISH PUB…ORDER WATER AND WINGS?

IMG_9579IMG_9577

the boys love a good beer, but this time we didn’t order any; just three orders of wings and two potato soups. THEY WERE SO GOOD! we couldn’t finish all of them though. too many.

DIRTY DOG BAR

it’s the second time the boys play here. as always, it was a good show.

I still ask myself why I didn’t apply for this university.. it looks challenging, yet amazing.

after the show we somehow got hungry again and boys decided to give this restaurant, Big Bite, a try. they serve these big sandwiches with multiple things in them. david and i shared one that had chicken strips, french fries, and mozzarella sticks, all drenched in buffalo sauce and ranch. yes, that sounds, and is, extremely fatty, but that combination was tasty! total college food.

we slept over at our friend’s apartment in a little town – that by the way is so cute! – about 30 minutes from the capital. (oh, and she owns a chinchilla named mango! how cool is that?) we ventured downtown, got smoothie king, shopped in a store full of cool knickknacks, and ate tacos. (gosh, we sure do eat a lot..)

does my writing transpire the excitement i felt? pardon my thoughts being out of order and my constant use of exclamation marks and sophomoric adjectives. these were two fun days!

what have you been up to friends? :) boyfriend and i are up to our neck in finals. it’s not fun. if you, too, are in finals, we understand your pain and are here cheering for ya! be safe, be well, have a little fun! and have a very good day.

mom took my canon to mexico city.

and these are the pictures she came back with:
Mom took my Canon 12Mom took my Canon 3 Mom took my Canon 2Mom took my Canon 7 Mom took my Canon 5 Mom took my Canon 1 Mom took my Canon 11 Mom took my Canon 6 Mom took my Canon Mom took my Canon 8 Mom took my Canon 9 Mom took my Canon 10 Mom took my Canon 4

i have to give her props, taking pictures with a film camera is a little challenging at times. some are blurry, but i like em though. reminds me of how those old mexican movies looked. and it reminds me of my abuelo cuz he would always be watching them every time i would visit him. good memories. and good pictures, mother.

p.s: i got this little canon point-and-shoot, 35mm camera because i wanted something small to capture moments with. this is the first film i develop from it. i love it already.

camera: canon sure shot telemax // film: fujifilm superia x-tra 400ISO

I go to my window and what do I see? These babies growing taller and taller and their babies blooming from the soil! Ah, you don’t know how happy this makes me! I have always wanted to plant veggies.

In the first pot we have snap peas, and in the rest cilantro. I’m gonna have to transplant all of the cilantro soon.

When spring comes, I’ll be sure to start a garden outdoors. :) Just wanted to do a quick update from my last post, where Napo and I went outside to admire their growth.

Have a very nice Friday!

Oh rainy day, Oh happy day

IMAG0128 IMAG0129

well, happy day for some. it was a little overwhelming getting to school today with this rain. I don’t know how my little car got through it all but it did. Good boy.

I wasn’t excited for this friday – or lately any friday, since fridays now I mean I have to spend three hours dissecting a stinky cat for my anatomy class. but waking up to pouring rain and witnessing my sisters attempting to get into my dad’s car without getting wet on their way to school changed my perspective for today. even if mom and I almost got stuck in a river and even if I got late to class, today is a good day. so friends, happy friday!

good, happy things that happened this week:

  • I’m an aunt!
  • I developed three roles of film.
  • I cut David’s hair.
  • My boyfriend, my sister, and I gave Alexander the hedgehog, Max the pug, and Napo and Linda the guinea pigs baths.
  • I saw my friend’s baby bump in her baby shower and ate tacos.
  • I submitted an application to study abroad during the winter and I got accepted!
  • My blog turned one year old and I gave it a new look.
  • I discovered new blogs and that makes me happy.
  • This is my 80th blog post.

farmer’s market: september

the other day I stumbled upon this picture of the first time my boyfriend and I went to our local farmer’s market. it made me miss it and want to go. all of the food and the fun him and I had –that was a good day!

10347475_10154807628675293_3754723332035682278_n

then last saturday I woke up at 9 am randomly, like something told me to wake up. I look at my phone and it has a notification saying “farmer’s market today!” so I had to tell david and an hour later we were on our way. oh how he spoils me even when he’s half asleep! <3

boyfriend had many taquitos, I had a corn and a lemon paleta. happy, happy campers! :)

IMG_7494 IMG_7495

so we passed by a floor full of chalk drawings and i mean…how could we say no!?

my work of art: celebrating my pug’s birthday!
david’s artwork: a very happy poop :D!

I took my minolta with me and shot some photos of this day + the buildings around us. I would gladly share them..but I’m a very lazy human that hasn’t developed that film yet, sorry, hah! david took his lego star wars minifigures and shot several pictures too! (you can follow him on instagram here!)

ok, I don’t know how this is gonna sound, but you know don’t know how happy it made me to see that someone made and sold natural deodorants in my hometown (and in such a cute packaging!). in case you’re interested: it works, it smells good, you can make your own by following recipes online,  and best of all: it’s not bad for your body. yay!

oh, and that orange mason jar is a carrot cake for my grandma! it smelled soo good!

the sky looked so pretty that day. we just had to go on the rooftop again.

I love local events. I’m glad David likes them too.

well, until next time friends :) thanks for stopping by!

my mother made me obsessed with snoopy

so I was exploring etsy, looking for a birthday gift for my mother, when I came across with this:

Screen Shot 2015-09-21 at 5.31.33 PM
listing on photo.

this plate, ladies and gentlemen, which may seem to you as just a wacky snoopy plate is actually  part of my childhood! I had one just like that, and I have vivid memories of my mother serving me my favorite foods on it. I even remember washing it and it being in the different places we lived in when I was a child.

if my phone wasn’t dead right now I would be sending my mother pictures and we would both be trying to remember where the heck we left it! my guess is: it’s in grandma’s house and it might be chipped :(

my mother was born in ’66, I was born in ’94, the listing for the plate says ’65 – this leaves me with the questions: did it belong to my mother before it belonged to me, or did they still make these when I was a child and she just purchased one then?

ooh, the questions, the feels, the memories!

even though that little clown snoopy is screaming my name and bringing childhood flashbacks to buy it, i don’t know if I will.

I just can’t believe I found it! I had completely forgotten about its existence. wow! I can’t wait to get home and show this to my mom!

**

has something like this ever happened to you? are you as obsessed as my mother and I are with this little white dog? are you going to watch the movie when it comes out?

ahh, i’m just too excited! have a very nice day :)

anatomy class

I just dissected a cat!
Well, skinned one and looked at it’s muscles. We’re opening him up another day.
He was a black male cat, and my lab partner and I named it Sheldon.
It was a really neat experience to do so. It was a little sad at first but later you see the educational value.

I just wanted to write about it because I came out of class and was so excited :)

p.s: my anatomy lab professor said it we had the best dissection in class so far!
p.s.s: I’m passing both his class and the lab! yay!!

p.s.s.s: (too many s’) if I knew how to do yoga, I would be be doing some right now. I am sitting in a bench in school next to trees and it’s empty and there is a lot of fresh air running. it is so relaxing. I needed that. I just wished a had a burger with me right now..

have a nice weekend! and if you have a burger, enjoy it cuz I’m jealous of you!

He’s in!!

Boyfriend just told me that his engineer professor gave him word that he was one of the few of his class selected to participate in building a robot that is going to be in a competition of none other than…..NASA!!
They’re gonna build another rover, like the one in Mars, and present it to them. And if they like what they see, they’ll use their model. Isn’t that amazing?!
I’m so happy for him, I had to just tell you! This is something huge! Saying you worked on a project for NASA…wow!
So proud of him and other friends that are in the project as well <3
Good things and big accomplishments for him – and the semester just started!
Ahh, so exciting :D!

– one proud girlfriend

excitement!

I just developed a bunch of film  (7 rolls to be exact) dating back to May. I want to share some of my favorite pictures with you because, I don’t know, I really like them and this is my little corner of the world and having pictures makes me happy. and i hope it makes you happy as well :)

oh! also, we went on vacation and I have a few pictures to share from our trip there, too :)
